I retired after 35 years with the state of Washington Department of Social and Health Services as an office administrator and member of the DSHS Region 4 management team (Seattle/King County). Along the way I held various local, regional and statewide management positions in social services and drug abuse treatment, beginning with a year at the Lancaster County Welfare Department in Lincoln. It was a long, varied and satisfying career - many jobs, but one employer in Washington State. Now I'm free to continue my musical career. I've never been out of a band for any length of time since the first one we started in 1962: The Starfires, and I'm involved with several bands and musical projects at this point, having big fun, making money. We moved to Seattle in 1973. It's a good town. The house is paid for, we installed solar panels on the roof last year, my kids are both college graduates with no student debt, we are going to Burning Man for the fifth time this year. We are blessed with a wide circle of amazing friends of all ages, and life is good.

School Story

I loved Mr. Byorth's art classes, even though I had no discernible talent for graphic arts. He gave me 4s, but nice comments about how "attentive and hard working" I was in class! :-)

I took Mr. Rita's swim class every semester, six times in all. Still love to swim.

Favorite teachers: Mr. Keene, Mrs. Williams, Herr Hammelman, Senor Pearce!

After some years of playing almost exclusively at the Edison Inn, in a little bitty artsy town about 70 miles north of Seattle, the Tangents are moving in on the big city! Video shoot in two weeks! Next stop, LA? Three 70 year olds and a couple of "youngsters." Too late to quit now! :-)

Still at it!

Here's our boy Dave on piano onstage at the Seattle Center; two shows at Key Arena for the 2017 holidays, both sold out (13,000 people apiece). I finally got to see the show!

Mark was playing with Seattle chanteuse Caela Bailey at the Pride Festival at Seattle Center this summer. It was over 100 degrees that day and the band and dancers worked up a sweat! I also appear on Caela's new CD, "The Gospel of the Gutter Queen," which you can find online, along with various videos and other info. Photo coming...

2016 Summer festival season is kicking off over the 4th of July with the Blooming Heart Festival on Orcas Island! Our band, Sonic Shiva, will be catching the ferry for the San Juan Islands and another night in the Dome!

Our Festival Band, Sonic Shiva, plays at the Cascadia Festival. Playing at Burning Man Center Camp during a howling dust storm was a definite highlight for this band, which continues our monthly shows at Pioneer Square Art Walk in Seattle.

Not to brag about my kid... But he is currently touring Europe, playing keyboards with these guys, after a swing through the US and appearances on the American Music Awards show and Late Night with Colbert. Okay, I'm bragging! :-)

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis out on a world tour - my son, David Dalton, was on board on keys, around the world (Sorry for bragging, but...)
