In Memory

Timothy Ash

Timothy “Tim” John Ash

Timothy John Ash, 74 of Phoenix Arizona passed away on June 3rd, 2021.

Tim was born on April 30, 1947, to the late Patrick and Bess Ash (Carpenter) in Lincoln Nebraska. Tim attended Lincoln Southeast high school, graduating in 1965. Tim went on to attend and graduate from the University of Nebraska Lincoln where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and graduated with a degree in Political Science.

Tim worked alongside his father in the family business (Pat Ash Incorporated) and proudly took over the business when his father passed away. Tim moved to Arizona in 2005 where he enjoyed hiking, riding his bike, working at Spring Training baseball and the Arizona Diamondbacks while spending time with his family.

Tim is survived by his three daughters, Lindsay Ash (Leia), Erin Nielsen (Doug), Jamie Ash and his two grandchildren Blake and Dylan Nielsen all of Phoenix, as well as his brother Pat Ash and sister Linda Ash of Lincoln.

Tim will be remembered fondly for many things but some of his best and most memorable attributes are his amazing sense of humor, his love of sports and natural athletic abilities, his uncanny ability to remember interesting facts and figures, his kind heart, and his BIG love for his family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in his honor to be used for a future commemorative memorial experience with the remainder being donated to Special Olympics.

Tim was a really good guy. We had a lot of classes together and played a lot of tennis all three years of HS.  Rest in peace Tim.

I didn't know Tim well, but passed him in the hall many times going to class.  He always seemed so tall and always a big smile on his face and laughing.  I think he must have been a very happy person.

What a coincidence that my first memory of Tim was the same as Doug's - that Tim was the fastest runner at Prescott School. Sincere condolences to Tim's family and friends. Mike Tavlin

I didn't know Tim well but admired him and his family. Interesting that just this past year the building in Estes Park CO where they had the camera store many years ago was remodeled. In doing so they tore off the facia which exposed the Ash camera store name for a few days. I wish I had taken a picture of it but I'm sure someone did as it's certainly a part of our town's history on Elkhorn Avenue.

What a shock and sorrow to hear of Tim's passing.

He was one of my very best friends at Prescott grade school, I remember he was one of the fastest runners. I mostly saw his backside in running activities. We played baseball together in little league. He was an excellent baseball player, He was always a great guy. For some reason I always remembered him every year on his birthday, April 30.

He came from a wonderful family as well. I could be totally wrong on this next part., but  I believe his Dad, Pat Sr, ran a camera shop in downtown Lincoln. I remember it as being  a long running, successful business. For some reason I think his Dad may  have been the mayor of Lincoln at some point. (I would gladly have my memories corrected by anyone who remembers things more accurately.)

I missed him at the most recent reunions and always meant to catch up with him.

Let that be a reminder to take the time to reach out to those who are important to us whenever we can.

My condolences and good thoughts go out to his family.

Sincerely,

Dale Guilford
