Francine Workman (Brown)

Francine Workman Brown, age 73, of Lincoln, Nebraska suffered a stroke on August 18. She received hospice care at home. Francine passed away on September 4, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones. 

At Lincoln Southeast High School, Francine was a member of the Future Nurses of America, Knightettes and Thalians.

On October 1, 1965 Francine married Oklahoma native Jack Brown. They would have celebrated their 55th anniversary this year.

Jack and Francine lived in Millington, TN, where Jack worked for the National Association of Small Trucking Company. The Browns next lived in Lakehurst, NJ. In 1972 they returned to Lincoln to be close to their family. Jack and Francine built a home on an acreage east of Lincoln where they lived for 48 years and raised 3 children.

After the children were in school, Francine earned real estate and broker licenses, sold real estate for Century 21 and later managed properties for Tabitha. Francine then worked for the Immigration and Naturalization Service and retired after 19 years of service. Together, Jack and Francine managed their own apartment rental business.

Francine is survived by her husband Jack Brown, her children Tammy (& David) Gersh, Todd Brown, and Tina Brown; her grandchildren Eve, Ethan, and Eli Gersh, and Nikki and Michael Brown; her great-grandchildren Faith, Chanan, and River; sister Delouise Carroll; and brothers Joe (& Tina) Workman and Bob (& Carol) Workman.

A celebration of Francine’s life was held at her home on September 12, 2020.

Francine and I often sat close together due to the alphabet seating so often used in school.  I remember her as so sweet and friendly.  I always enjoyed her company.  I know she will be missed by so many.
