Linda Sue Zimmerman, 76, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on January 31, 2024. Her husband was at her side. At the time of her death, Linda was a resident at the Santa Marta Senior Community Center in Olathe, Kansas. Linda was a loving, warm and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her.

Linda was born on September 23, 1947, in Lincoln, Nebraska to the late James E. and Rose Marie Millstead. In 1965 Linda Millstead (Zimmerman) graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School.

Linda met her husband Dennis Zimmerman in radiology school. They were married on May 25, 1968, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Linda and Dennis lived in Lincoln, Chicago and in the greater Kansas City area.

Linda Zimmerman enjoyed a career as a radiology technician. She worked at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri and at several orthopedic specialty practices. Linda also had experience in medical billing and retail sales.

Linda loved her family, hobbies and shopping. She especially enjoyed shopping at Nordstrom. Linda spent entire days at Nordstrom and came home with clothes to model for her husband Denny. She had a passion for collecting artist dolls, artist bears and miniature figures called Wee Forest Folk. After she retired Linda enjoyed traveling with her husband and best friends. She loved attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. It was well known that Linda did not finish her meals…. but always had room for dessert. Linda was a true puzzle fan and would often work well into the night to finish each day’s challenges.

Linda is survived by her beloved husband Dennis Zimmerman; her daughter Stacy Zimmerman Redus; her son Ryan Zimmerman; her grandchildren Annabelle Zimmerman 19, Brooklynn Zimmerman 18, Evie Zimmerman 11, Campbell Redus 17, and Emma Redus 16; and her brother Jim Millstead. Linda is also survived by several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents James E. and Rose Marie Millstead, and her grandparents James and Belva Millstead, and Joe and Goldie Brown.

Linda Zimmerman and her family were members of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas.

Linda is now free of the diseases that ravaged her body for the past few years. She bravely endured the horrible combination of Type 1 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. She was a trooper and never complained. We love her and are comforted to know her suffering has ended.
