In Memory

Rick Prenosil

Rick Prenosil died at age 70 of a heart attack on December 25, 2017. Rick and I reconnected in the 1990s. We became close friends when I moved to Las Vegas. We enjoyed our trips to the desert to shoot wild rocks. He will be missed by all the people he worked with at the airlines and his golfing buddies in Las Vegas. R.I.P., Rick Jim Stone

Rick lived two houses from me on 37th street. We started grade school together at College View Elementary and played as kids almost daily. Not much communication after high school except at reunions. Rick was a nice guy. Kim Tyler

Rick was a good guy who was nice to everyone.  He played the accordian as a little kid and was pretty good at it.  I really liked how he didn't take himself too seriously.  Glad ot have known him. Godspeed Rick.

Rick was a great guy whom I reconnected with through Jim Stone during one of my frequent visits to Las Vegas.  The three of us had a meal or two together during each of my trips to Las Vegas and always never ran out of topics to commiserate about, be it UNL sports, politics, the day's news or "memories of the good old days".  After Jim and his wife moved to Hawaii, Rick offered to be my hotel during my continued Las Vegas visits.  I would travel over every February when I spoke at an annual conference and again in November when I traveled over to renew the license plates on my car.  Rick had a lovely place to stay and was the consummate host.  Rick was a gifted guy who had accomplished a lot of great, interesting things during his 70 years.  He touched a lot of people and during his last years, I was fortunate to be one of them.  It was a pleasure to have been able to reconnected with Rick.  It was a very sad Christmas day to learn he had moved on to be with our Lord.  I am very grateful for the memories he was kind enough to leave behind.  The high school years are a special time in most people's lives.  It makes friendships that have a unique endurance that has a tendency to last a lifetime.  People will remember and miss Rick and I will be one of them.  Here's hoping in the grand plan of things we will rendezvous again someday.

Rick Prenosil and I began our friendship at College View Elementary, only back then we called him Ricky Prenosil and he didn't seem to mind.  Since we often sat in alphabetical order, Prenosil and Thompson were always close by.  He was always so fun to be around, a big smile on his face and quite the jokester.  It is so hard to imagine him gone.  I had the pleasure of visiting with him at our 50th reunion and never thought it would be the last time I would see him and reminisce.  God speed to you Ricky.  We'll all miss you.  Fondly, Carol Miller
