Judy Gage (Moorhead)
Born: October 30, 1947
Died: August 21, 2009
Age:62
Judy Gage (Moorhead) died in a hospital on August 21, 2009, surrounded by loved ones, after a three and a half year battle with cancer.
Judy was born on the kitchen table on October 30, 1947, at the family farm in Palisade, Nebraska. She grew up in Beatrice and Lincoln. Judy attended Lincoln Southeast High School and earned a BA in English at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Judy worked at the State Department of Social Services, where she met her husband Mike Moorhead. In 1985 Judy gave birth to their daughter Mollie and quit her job to devote herself entirely to motherhood for many years.
In January 2006 Judy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She was always strong and feisty and loving and real….an inspiration to those around her for many reasons. We love her fiercely, wish her rest and am so happy she is free from pain.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Thelma Gage; her brothers-in-law Louis Lange and “Tiny” Gage; her sister-in-law Cindy Gage; and her longtime friend Dace Burdic. She is survived by her daughter Molly; her husband of 33 years Mike; her sisters and brothers Becky, Gene and Steve Gage; Lynne Lange and Gwen Cook; her nieces and nephews Vanessa Ventry, Tiffany Hoppe, Sammie Cook, Greta Glen, Peter, Patrick, Andy and Stephanie Gage; as well as many dear friends and neighbors.
Memorial services will be held on August 25 at 11 am at Roper and Sons Chapel 4300 O Street. Potluck lunch will follow. Bring a side dish to share or an offering for the alter. Condolences and personal reflections may be sent online at www.roperandsons.com

Judy was very sweet and kind and good hearted. I think of her every time I see a book she gave me which is still in my library. Not forgotten.

Judy was a great friend. We had lots of fun running around together in college with Jef Furr and Dace Grots; a powerful trio of liberated women! I'm sorry she's no longer with us.

Gotta say, it is still hard to believe she is dead. We were great friends for years. When my younger daughter Carrie moved to Lincoln to work at St. E's as a labor and delivery nurse, we became close again. Gage was fun and smart. She loved LOVED to dance and I always think of her when I hear a dancey tune. When Areatha died, I know Gage was there first in line to greet her in heaven!
