Lynn Lee Edwards (Monroe) died on February 11, 2017, in Phoenix, AZ. She was surrounded by her sons and husband when she was called by our heavenly Father into eternal life.

Lynn was born on May 10, 1947, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to William and Mary Lee Edwards. She spent summers at Woman Lake in Minnesota and loved swimming and waterskiing.

Lynn attended William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. In 1965 she met her husband Bob Monroe, who was a graduate of Westminster College in Fulton. Lynn and Bob were married in 1967. Following Bob’s graduation from law school, they moved to Overland Park, Kansas where they settled and raised their family.

Lynn was a caring, compassionate and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to read, swim, knit and travel. Lynn and Bob traveled often to St. Martin, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Arizona. Lynn treasured her annual trips to Destin with all of her children and grandchildren. Lynn was an avid golfer and played almost daily with her friends at Brookridge Golf and Fitness.

Lynn is preceded by her parents William and Mary Lee Edwards, and her brother William Thomas Edwards, Jr. She is survived by her husband C. Robert Monroe, sons Jason (Carissa), Matt (Kelly), adopted nephew Brady (Amy); her ten grandchildren Sydney, Max, Collin, Katherine, Jake, Molly, Riley, Matthew, Alex and Mary Jane; and her mother-in-law Martha Monroe.

The grandchildren loved Grandma Lynn so much, as did all of her friends and family. Lynn will be greatly missed. The entire family thanks all our friends, who have shown support, love and caring to us during this difficult time.

A mass for Lynn will be held at Cure of Ars in Leawood, Kansas at 11;30 am on Friday, February 24, 2017. Mass will be followed by a celebration of Lynn’s life at Blue Hills Country Club from 1:00-4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Lynn’s honor to Cure of Ars Catholic Church/School.

I am so glad I got to visit with Lynn at the 50th. Sad to think that when you connect with a classmate it will be the last time in this life. I really enjoyed seeing her and knowing that she sometimes was in Tucson.
