Joel F. Harper of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was a five-year liver recipient survivor.
Joel was born on March 15, 1947, to James and Jean (Dalton) Harper. He was an active member of the Chippewa Northwestern Railway, (This railroad would not be what it is today without Joel’s work.); the Cornhusker Chapter of the National Railroad Historical Society;, the Lincoln Railfans Club; the St. Croix Railroad in Hudson, WI.; the Camerall Club of Omaha; the Camp Creek Threshers and the Seward County Historical Society.
Joel was survived by his wife Jane of Lincoln; brother and sister-in-law Jan and Donna Harper of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law John and Debby Harper of Lincoln; nieces and nephew Lori Harper, Kim Harper and John Henry. Joel was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service was held for Joel at 3:00 pm on Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street. Memorials in care of the family.
